Grief and Loss Services

Grief Counseling

Grief is a normal response to loss. Whenever we experience a loss - be it a loved one, a marriage, a dream, a job, or good health - we feel sadness. Depending upon the loss, that sadness can seem overwhelming, especially if faced alone.

Since its inception, Point of Hope Grief Counseling Center has provided expert grief counseling and support to people of all ages facing loss. We have learned that each individual experiences grief in unique ways.

We are committed to sharing our expertise and compassion so that no one must face grief alone.

Who We Serve
We provide services to the loved ones of all people enrolled in the Capital Hospice program - as well as to the larger community - who are coping with grief.

We provide support to non-English speaking people, the homebound elderly and children.

We also provide assistance to groups, businesses, organizations and even entire communities. For example, many groups and individuals, especially those connected with the Pentagon, looked to us for help in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack.

Services Available to Loved Ones of Capital Hospice Patients
While loved ones of Capital Hospice patients are not required to accept our support, we know that many people trying to handle their grief can benefit from it.

If you are a member of this group, you can participate in all services available to the general public. You do not have to pay for these services, which can be used at any time during the first 13 months after your loved one's death.

In addition, you are entitled to receive ongoing telephone support by Point of Hope professionals trained in Bereavement.
